PTCB Certification Testing
There are two parts to being a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through PTCB. First, pharmacy technicians must sit for and pass the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board Examination (PTCB Examination). Once a pharmacy technician has passed the exam, he or she may use the designation of CPhT. Second, to continue to hold certification, a CPhT is required to obtain twenty hours of continuing education for recertification within two years of original certification or previous recertification.

Authorization to Test
You must have applied to PTCB and received an Authorization to Test letter prior to scheduling your testing appointment. Please carefully review the information contained in your Authorization to Test letter when you receive it. If any of the information is incorrect, or if the information has changed, please contact PTCB at 1-877-782-2888.

Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)
The Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) develops, maintains, promotes, and administers a certification and recertification program for pharmacy technicians. PTCB provides programs and services that offer pharmacy technicians an opportunity to demonstrate that they have mastered knowledge and skills across practice settings. Through the PTCB program, pharmacy technicians are able to work more effectively with pharmacists to offer better patient care and service.
