CCI Testing
CCI is a not-for-profit corporation established for the purpose of administering credentialing examinations as an independent credentialing agency. CCI began credentialing cardiovascular professionals in 1968.
A one-part examination process is available for six (6) CCI Registry Level Exams:
- Congenital Cardiac Ultrasound-Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS)
- Electrophysiology — Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES)
- Invasive / Cardiac Catheterization — Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS)
- Echocardiography — Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS)
- Phlebology / Venous Ultrasound — Registered Phlebology Sonographer (RPhS)
- Vascular Technology / Vascular Ultrasound — Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS)
A one-part examination process is available for the following CCI Certificate Level Exams:
- ECG, Cardiac Stress Testing and Holter monitors - Certified Cardiographic Technician (CCT)
- Event Monitoring - Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician (CRAT)
For Applicants Who Have Begun the Former Two-Part Exam Process
A two-part examination process is available to candidates for the following three (3) CCI Registry Level Examinations:
- Invasive / Cardiac Catheterization — Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS)
- Noninvasive / Echocardiography — Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS)
- Vascular Technology / Vascular Ultrasound — Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS)
These CCI Registry Level Credentials are awarded to those who successfully complete the Cardiovascular Science Examination and one of the following three Registry Level Examinations. If any Applicant / Candidate who has begun the former TWO-PART credentialing process has not successfully earned the credential by December 31, 2010, they will be required to sit for the ONE-PART examination process beginning January 1, 2011.
NOTE: An exception will be made for CURRENT students of cardiovascular technology and diagnostic medical sonographer educational programs who have applied for and/or taken the Cardiovascular Science Examination and have not yet taken the Registry Examination due to a graduation date post December 31, 2010. These Candidates who are current students of cardiovascular technology and diagnostic medical sonographer educational programs MUST earn their credential by December 31, 2011 or the Candidate will be required to apply for and sit for the ONE-PART credentialing process post January 1, 2011.
The only mechanism for obtaining a CCI credential is through examination by CCI. Upon passing the required examination process, the registrant is awarded a credential certificate to signify their registry/certification status.
