Australian Medical Council Computer-Based Testing

This is the scheduling for the Australian Medical Council’s (AMC) Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) Off-shore examination, either by using the AMC on-line scheduling portal or by submitting the Form C-1 paper-based application. To be eligible to schedule for this MCQ Off-shore examination, you must first apply to the AMC for an MCQ Off-shore examination by submitting the Form C-1 application. If you have not yet made these arrangements then please see the instructions for applying to the AMC’s MCQ Off-shore examination.

US Embargo

The following countries are subject to economic and trade sanctions administered and enforced by the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC):

  • Cuba
  • North Korea

Residents from the abovementioned countries can ONLY schedule for exams offered at Cliftons venues.

Pearson VUE has received advice from the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) in the USA that, commencing July 2009, residents from both Iran and Sudan who are AMC eligible candidates, may now schedule for the AMC MCQ examination with Pearson VUE. Please refer to the MCQ Examination Dates for 2010 for a list of available Pearson VUE and/or Cliftons venues.

Examination Format

The MCQ consists of two 3½ hour examinations administered in morning and afternoon sessions on the same day, with a 1 hour break between the morning and afternoon sessions.

Questions are multiple choice, with one correct answer to be selected from five responses.

The multiple choice question (MCQ) examination is fully integrated. Questions in each of the major component subjects are not grouped according to subject but are placed throughout the examination. 60 of the 300 questions are pilot items which are used to test and calibrate new questions for possible use in future examinations and are not counted towards the candidate’s overall score. For more information on this examination, please refer to the AMC website (NOT Pearson VUE).

Scheduling

If you have successfully completed the Form C-1 application process (either by using the AMC on-line scheduling portal or paper-based application) and have received a confirmation email from Pearson VUE regarding the MCQ Off-shore examination you may now schedule by:

  • Schedule Test Online
  • Schedule Test Over the Phone

These scheduling facilities also allow you to vary your MCQ Off-shore examination day or venue (where other venues/sessions are available).

It is vital that you take action as soon as you receive the email as Pearson VUE allocates placements on a first come first served basis.

Once you have scheduled your examination placement with Pearson VUE, the AMC will email you an official placement letter. This letter can therefore be utilised for travel and Visa requirements as it confirms both your placement and venue selection.

Withdrawals

You may also withdraw from an MCQ Off-shore examination online or by phone.

If you cannot find the information you require on this page or you have not yet completed the MCQ application process Form C-1 and paid your MCQ Off-shore examination fees, then please see the AMC website for instructions for applying to the AMC’s MCQ Off-shore examination. Important Note Regarding Withdrawals

Third party nominees

Under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the AMC is generally not permitted to disclose personal information about a candidate to a third party (i.e. agent, employer) without the candidate’s consent.

A candidate may authorise a third party (agent) to communicate and/or act on the candidate’s behalf by completing the Authority to receive information concerning an AMC candidate/applicant form (PDF).
